Automated Email form tester
I'm a WP dev, that continues to have my client's email forms suddenly stop working (email not delivered). Yes, I add DMARC records, SMTP plugins, etc. Does anyone know of a free, automated tool that tests form submissions for successful delivery, or at least automatically submits them, so I can check to see if they were delivered? It also needs to be able to answer quiz questions for spam blocking. I'm hoping to run a once per week automated submission on all my client's sites.

[PROMO] A plugin that generates a client-facing manual by scanning what the site actually uses
I built a plugin that scans a WordPress site — pages, menus, custom post types,
page builder, WooCommerce, forms, SEO and caching plugins — and generates a
manual covering only the features that site actually has. It lives in wp-admin,
so the client reads it where they work, and it's written for someone who has
never touched WordPress before.
You can edit any section, reorder or hide the ones that don't apply, and add
your own. There are also "agency notes" that only administrators see. Re-scanning
refreshes the generated sections without overwriting anything you've edited.
Free, GPL, no upsell, no account, and the scan sends nothing anywhere — it all
stays in the site.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/geticed-site-manual/
Fair warning: I haven't used this on a real client handover, so the generated
wording is my best guess at what a non-technical client needs. That's the
feedback I'm after where it's wrong, too generic, or missing something you'd
always include.

Navigation not responding to mobile
[Resolved]
Hello! I just launched my site today and everything is great except that the hamburger menu doesn't appear on mobile devices. I've tested Chrome and Firefox browsers on 2 different phones and the problem persists. I cleared browser and BlueHost caches; I'm not using a WP cache plugin. The desktop header shows up on mobile, and the user is unable to scroll across to the navigation, so there functionally isn't any. The Overlay Visibility is set to Mobile (I tried unsetting and resetting this as well) and the template is set to Navigation Overlay, which contains the correct links. What else could be wrong?

Best deployment workflow for Wordpress websites
Okay so I am personally new to Wordpress. We are creating a new site on Wordpress+Lightsail. We wish to keep utilizing Wordpress and the plugins that it comes with. Our other sites also have Wordpress but they were made using Elementor which we want to move away from owing to costs and the rigid nature of development.
We wish to move towards a workflow that is friendly to developers for setting up custom beautiful pages easily with code, easy to navigate for marketing people who can make the minor tweaks, create the occasional blog post, style the odd component without having to constantly bother the developers.
I know that the flexibility of code and the ease of GUI editors are two things that have a hard time coexisiting but I was wondering if there were indeed solutions which enabled that and thats why I am interested in knowing yalls workflows.
I would like that the workflow enables the website to keep working seamlessly with plugins like Weglot for translation and Yoast for SEO (if you have any SEO tips in general those are appreciated too).
Feel free to let me know if I am going about this wrong, if I have some false ideas that are just not possible, or if there are other things worth considering. (Please do note that I dont reallly want to move away from the Wordpress as a foundation since alot of other people are familliar with it, dont want to introduce drastic learning curves)

Question About Litespeed Cache
I just finished building my first site in Bricks since switching from Elementor. The pagespeed scores are impressive. Usually I have to optimize a lot with caching plugins to get even decent scores.
Now I have a different issue. Litespeed cache is actually ruining my scores. It’s increasing LCP and FCP by about 3 seconds with just cache enabled and nothing else. Scores went from 97 to 75 on mobile. Has anyone else had this with Litespeed and Bricks? I usually use EWWW for CDN and images, but it also is ruining my scores.

Possible that I have bitten more than I can chew
Hi,
I was asked to create a website for a friend of a friend. They have a very tight budget which I am ok with since this will be my first actual website project. They want me to make a basic website ( I work in marketing and I'm fairly tech savy so think I could make my way around this).
Phase #1 would entail:
- Connecting the existing domain
- WordPress website setup
- Website pages and content
- Links to socials
- Contact/inquiry functionality
- Mobile-friendly formatting
- Basic testing and launch
However, the next parts I am nervous about since I don't know how to code well.
Phase #2
- Online ordering for products
- Payment functionality
- Order confirmation
- Basic order tracking for fulfillment
- Basic connection with the existing HubSpot CRM
AND
They also want monthly subscriptions (Phase #3) to be a part of the website a little bit later down the line.
I am thinking to host on godaddy and edit on WordPress but after spending time on this sub, no one is a fan of .com and suggest .org. Any advice on this?
I am confused how to begin this project and hoping that the power of beliving in myself, community and lots of research will allow me to be successful here.
Please share thought, comments, critiques etc.
Thank you

My wordpress needs an overhaul - where do I start?
I have a standalone webpage for my portfolio and services. It's not bad, but pretty janky looking and could use a more modern look and feel. I initially used one of the themes to get it going that I think is pretty limited but am worried I'll break something if I want to switch themes.
What's the best way to go about testing a new theme/layout/etc? Can I completely copy the source code to some sort of offline testing page and dabble there, then copy/paste it back to the main page when I like what I see?

I can't save my classnames, because of the error "A class was removed from your site and is no longer active on this element" after going back to Elementor v4
My problem:
- I add a classname to a widget (like a div, etc)
- I create a classname to apply to this widget with some CSS inside it
- I published the project
- When reloading the website, or going back to it where I want to edit the page with Elementor, in the Classes section, it says "A class was removed from your site and is no longer active on this element"
What should I do to fix it?! Any workaround?
Elementro version: 4.3.0
Elementro Pro version: 4.3.0
WordPress version: 7.1.2
PHP version: 8.2.33

Multi-Product Banner Grid in Seconds
Been working on a Chrome extension that turns affiliate short links into product banner HTML — attached a quick clip of it turning an Amazon link into a card, just to show what it actually does.
Would love to know if something like this actually sounds useful to you, or if it's solving a problem nobody really has.
Also going back and forth on one design decision: should the generated banner show the product's price, or just the image + title? Showing the price feels more useful/transparent, but prices change constantly and go stale fast (especially on Amazon), and I don't want people posting banners with outdated prices. No price might make the banner feel less "complete" though.
Curious to hear both — is this worth using, and how would you handle the price thing?

[NEW FREE PLUGIN] Tiny Simple Admin Notice Silencer
I'm managing tens of WordPress websites, own and client, live and staging. Of course wherever I can I have all the auto updates enabled.
Still, WordPresses can be quite noisy with their email notifications:
"Some plugins have failed to update"
"WordPress was updated"
etc.
I got tired of that so I made a small plugin that just silences most of them ( only keeps the Recovery Mode emails ) - of course controllable with filters, and published to the repo.
I assume that most of the people in similar situation already have a solution for that. But if someone doesn't - there you go.

Looking for a DSGVO compliant Forms-Platform
Hey there,
I am experiencing massive problems with our ninja-forms installation (dont use it guys).
I am now looking for a Solution where I can use an external Tool (3rd Party Website) where I can create my forms (realy complex in some cases).
But it would be great if the connection would be as easy as possible (not just 1000 iframes I have to put somewhere)
Maybe if there is some kind of connector plugin I would be fine with that.
Also I want to push data from my website into these forms (hidden fields) and I want to be able to give custom classes to the submit button for example.
Any Ideas or recommendations? GPT told me FormAssembly EU or Jotforms EU I think.

[PROMO] Why is there no native Carousel in WordPress Gutenberg? (And how I built the closest thing to a Core feature)
If you work with WordPress Gutenberg and Full Site Editing (FSE), you've probably asked yourself this exact question at some point:
"Why doesn't WordPress have a native Carousel / Slider block built into Core?"
WordPress has given us native block layouts, flex controls, theme.json, and dynamic Query Loops. Yet, the moment you need a simple image slider, a testimonial carousel, or a WooCommerce product carousel, you are forced to install third-party plugins that load 140KB+ of Swiper.js/Slick scripts and inject custom proprietary blocks into your site.
As a WordPress developer, I asked myself a different question:
"If the WordPress Core Team decided to add a native carousel feature to Gutenberg tomorrow, HOW would they build it?"
What a true "Native" Carousel should look like
If WordPress Core included a carousel feature, they wouldn't force you to build custom slider wrapper blocks. Instead, they would extend the native blocks you ALREADY use:
- Extend existing core blocks: Add a simple "Carousel" toggle switch to standard
core/group,core/gallery, andcore/queryblocks. - Use browser native CSS: Use modern CSS
scroll-snaphandled directly by the GPU, instead of importing heavy third-party JavaScript libraries. - Zero technical debt: If you turn off the feature, your content shouldn't break into "Invalid Block" errors—it should gracefully degrade back to a standard native block grid.
Because this feature didn't exist in Core, I decided to build it myself. That's why I created Any Block Carousel Slider (originally named native-blocks-carousel).
How it works under the hood
Instead of creating a new block type that you have to maintain, the plugin acts as a lightweight progressive enhancement layer:
- Query Loop Carousels in 1 Click: You insert a standard
Query Loopblock (for blog posts or WooCommerce products), toggle "Carousel" in the sidebar, and it instantly transforms into a smooth carousel. When you publish a new post, it automatically joins the slider! - 100% Native Block Markup: Your HTML remains clean WordPress core block markup. Global
theme.jsonvariables and styles inherit automatically. - 0 External JS Libraries: Powered by native browser CSS
scroll-snap+ a tiny navigation script (<15KB), preserving 100/100 Lighthouse performance scores.
The Verdict
Until WordPress Core introduces an official native carousel setting, we shouldn't have to sacrifice site speed, maintenance, or native block workflows for simple horizontal scrolling.
I built this tool to bridge that gap giving WordPress developers a solution that feels as close to a native Core feature as possible.
Try the "Native" Carousel Experience

What are your thoughts? Should WordPress Core include a native carousel toggle in future releases?

Is basic WP freelancing dying because of AI?
So I run a small web dev business (WordPress focused), been doing this for years, and lately I feel like I'm getting squeezed from a weird angle.
Every day on Meta I see ads for AI website builders. Which is funny because that's literally what I sell too, just the human version. ....now I keep running into people online who never learned PHP, never touched WordPress properly, but they ship full websites using Claude Code or similar tools.
They don't know what a hook is in WP, don't know theming, don't know half the stuff I spent years learning. But the output still works and some clients don't care how it was made. Maybe we will see later. Maybe...
Is WordPress becoming a dead skill. Is the whole "modern web dev" thing turning into just AI slop with a nice UI on top and nobody actually caring about code quality anymore, as long as it looks fine and loads.
At the same time I know trust, portfolio, reviews, actual support after launch still matter a lot to real clients, and most of these AI shops don't have any of that yet.
Maybe I'm overthinking it.
Curious what people here actually think. Is that beginning of the end?
Thank you

I created an easy to use event listing functionality in Wordpress that connects to Razorpay
Posting this to the greater wordpress community to get some early feedback to this. This is already being used by a couple of services here in India. Events calendar has it's default connection to Stripe, which is not supported in India in the best possible manner. And all other plugins are also super expensive.
The common route of using Woocommerce and the events calendar has too many variables in it. On top of that, events are listed as products on woocommerce, not the ideal way to look at it in my opinion.
The feature that I've built lets admin easily add events to their wordpress website, dynamically connects to the razorpay api to render the price entered and eliminates the need for multiple plugins and a heavy tech stack.
You can watch the demo to see the functionality at work.
I have just started developing this, and it's already live in a real world site, where payments are being processed.
At this stage, your feedback means a lot to me. Since I'm building this independently and its still in development, I would really appreciate if anyone else wants to test this out (FOR FREE). This will motivate me to keep developing this further.
What's in development:
- Ticket Types
- Ticket Quantities
- The fully shippable plugin as a standalone installer
Let me know what you think.
Thank you!

Trying to create blocks from ACF fields to use in a custom post type template
Goal: create a resource directory built on a custom post using an ACF custom field group with a FSE template.
Completed so far: Resource custom post type; Resource detail fields (resource_logo, resource_descriptio, resource_personal_impact)
I created a sample resource with the title and these fields populated.
I have created the following code with the help of AI to create the blocks. The blocks are showing up on the editor, but have no shape when added to the template. They also do not render content on the published page.
add_action('acf/init', function() { // Resource Logo Block acf_register_block_type([ 'name' => 'resource_logo', 'title' => __('Resource Logo'), 'description' => __('Displays the resource_logo ACF image field'), 'render_callback' => 'acf_block_render_resource_logo', 'category' => 'media', 'icon' => 'format-image', 'supports' => ['align' => false], ]); }); // Render Callbacks function acf_block_render_resource_logo() { $logo = get_field('resource_logo'); if ($logo) { echo wp_get_attachment_image( $logo['ID'], 'full', false, ['alt' => esc_attr($logo['alt'])] ); } } This is my first attempt at something like this. I want to try to do this without additional plugins (this subreddit has influenced me).
I feel I am missing something obvious. If I need rtfm, point me in the right direction because I stuck at the moment. Let me know if I need to provide more details. Thanks!

Migrating a 2,250-article Java community site off WordPress: Hugo for the site, single-file Java JBang scripts for everything else
Disclosure: I'm the main maintainer of [foojay.io](http://foojay.io), so this is a personal project driven out of frustration with WordPress. Full write-up with all the details: [https://foojay.io/today/announcing-the-new-foojay/\](https://foojay.io/today/announcing-the-new-foojay/) — repository: [https://github.com/foojayio/website\](https://github.com/foojayio/website)
Foojay ran on WordPress for six years and 2,000+ articles. What pushed me to rebuild it wasn't just the slow page loads, but the publishing friction that had nothing to do with writing: an author with something good to say needed an account, to understand WordPress, and some luck with how code blocks survived. Most of our authors live in an IDE and a Git client all day.
So foojay.io is now a Hugo site built from a public repository, deployed by GitHub Actions. An article is a folder with an index.md (or .adoc) and its images next to it, and publishing is a pull request. 2,250 articles, 350 author profiles, the JVM glossary, the JUG directory and the calendar all came across, and every legacy path still resolves, including the old /blog/ scheme.
Why Hugo and not a Java generator, on a site for Friends of OpenJDK: I had used JBake before and at the time it looked quiet (no release between early 2023 and late 2025; it has since shipped 2.7.0). Someone on our Slack pointed me at Roq, the Quarkus-based generator, which looks genuinely good and is where I would start if I wanted the generator itself in Java. I went with the tool I have run multiple other sites on, because for a community project that has to still be standing in ten years, "I know this and it is not going anywhere" beat "this is the most interesting choice".
The generator is the smallest part anyway. For everything around it, I used Java, as single-file JBang scripts with //DEPS at the top and no pom.xml:
* WordPress migration (jsoup to parse, flexmark to convert to Markdown), re-run repeatedly until cutover so the old site stayed live
* The JUG directory gets pulled from the community-run World Wide JUGs repository rather than maintained by us
* The calendar, which reads the iCal feed each JUG publishes, so meetups appear with nobody typing them in (102 JUGs, 70 with a readable feed)
* Podcast transcripts: 100 episodes, \~824k words, pulled from YouTube's captions rather than transcribed locally
* The pull request checks: frontmatter validation, a full build, every internal link resolved against the files on disk (half a million in about five seconds), \~40 browser checks because search, the maps and the lightbox all fail the same quiet way, and one check that refuses raw <script> in article text, since 2,000 imported articles mean Markdown has to allow raw HTML and a static site has no server-side layer to catch it
Two things I did not expect. GitHub Pages has a 1 GB limit and the imported images blew past it, mostly one 52 MB animated GIF used as the header of three articles. And Google Analytics is useless for a published number on a page full of Java developers with ad blockers, so read counts now come from a Cloudflare Worker we run: a table with a page key and an integer, no cookie, no IP, no identifier, 13.8 million existing reads carried over.
Still unsolved: \~3,000 imported images have no alt text. No script can invent one, and a hard failure just produces alt="image", so the check warns on new articles instead.
Happy to answer anything about the migration. And if you have ever thought "someone should write that up" — the templates are in the repository, and a pull request is the whole process now.

My site isn't ranking and I can't figure out why
Please forgive me if something along these lines has already been answered…
On June 14, I started my NBA blog on WordPress. I know that “sports” is a pretty hard niche to break into, but I’ve been covering the league for several seasons now, racking up millions of views on other websites. This summer, I decided to go independent. I have 159 posts published on my site so far, and have been linked/referenced on sites like Yahoo, Sporting News, and Sports Illustrated. Through Twitter, I’ve been able to amass 167 subscribers to my newsletter.
However, Google isn’t indexing me. I’ve submitted a sitemap, manually submitted each post’s URL, and nothing. 64 pages are “Crawled - currently not indexed.” More are “Discovered - currently not indexed.” Before you ask, the box that says “discourage search engines from seeing my content” has been unchecked in the WordPress dash.
I also link to between three and six posts in every new article I write, so my internal linking should be solid. Again, I’ve been cited by other sites, which should help speak to “quality” and “authority,” right?
Is there something I’m missing? Why am I not showing up in search? When I do a “site:EnterNameHere” search in Google, only my home page shows up.
Worth noting that most of my views on past sites were from organic search/Google Discover, so I was hoping to find similar (although smaller) success.

Inside a Malicious, Stealthy WordPress Must Use Plugin
The Wordfence Threat Intelligence Team identified an interesting malware sample in mid June during a site clean. The malware was installed as a must-use plugin with several self-healing mechanisms in place in order to survive removal. It also makes use of Etherhiding, a technique that hides the location of the attacker’s servers behind a smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain, making the command channel resilient to takedown..
