I'm the developer of Chevereto, a self-hosted media sharing platform that I've been developing since 2007. It enables you to run your own Imgur/Flickr website with your own rules, it comes with 2FA and S3-Compatible storage support.

About a week ago I released v4.5.7, the final release in Chevereto V4 release cycle. This one adds supports for several email providers apis (19 total) including AhaSend, Brevo, Mailgun, SendGrid, etc. It also improves on our multi-tenant support with more configurable flags and password-reset endpoint.

We bumped PHP 8.2 support and fixed several bugs as usual, including CVE-2026-55417. You can dig the complete changelog at our documentation.

A few weeks ago we had a bit of drama on this sub when Planka moved its SSO functionality behind a paid tier. And just a few days ago, we had a "shame" list of self-hosted sso tax apps announced here.

I decided to compile the opposite, as I try to host things on my homelab that can be integrated with PocketID directly

.. is a list of self hosted applications that provide SSO for free with the option to use a custom OIDC provider. Not included are apps that only support Google OAuth or similar.

There is a health check to mark repos that are stale (no commits for > 90 days) or don't have an OSI approved license. I also tried to link directly to the OIDC configuration manuals

AI disclosure in posts

Can we be more explicit on the required AI disclosure requirements for posts? It seems like 80% of the time people seem to think the required discourse is about their post, not the project they are promoting. This sub is getting hammered with vibe coded slop and while not all vibe coded projects are bad... most of them are and they aren't being disclosed often enough.

Got this 32GB VRAM card (basically 2x WX7100 in one card) for 100 USD. Gigasteal. I want to be running local LLMs for the most part but i was wondering what else can i do with it? Do you have any other uses

Most self-hosting security advice is just about the basics - don't expose ports directly to the internet and use containers for basic isolation

Beyond that what level of security do you actually enforce? Do you monitor what your apps are doing in the background, like tracking outbound network traffic or checking file access on the host? When updating, do you just let it auto-pull or read the release notes for breaking changes or inspect source code and dependencies before updating?

Hardware advise request

I am looking hardware to host my first selfhosted system. My use planning is to host data like a NAS, my own password vault, an adblock like pi hole, vpn, and maybe explore with some project to host some automate, and data monitoring apps. In a medium future I want acquire a better independient device to set up a self hosted IA server with some harness, but I said I want to have them sepparated.

My maths to hardware request are enough with 2tb of storage, 16gb RAM, and a N150 cpu. I saw in this Reddit so much hate to umbrel hardware, but I am seeing now the home model with 2 tb of storage from 599€ and the chineese alternative overprice this.

Am I wrong with my assumptions?

Question about Netbird vs Tailscale

I see a lot of YouTube channels using NetBird, and when I look into it, I honestly don’t understand it. I understand that it’s similar to Tailscale, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. Can anybody offer comparisons of NetBird vs. Tailscale?One thing I saw was that there wasn’t an Android client for NetBird, but then I saw something that said they did have one. My network is very simple:4 computers (2 desktops — 1 Windows, 1 Linux; 1 laptop; 1 Chromebook) 2 cell phones 2 Android tablets 6 IoT devices (smart plugs/bulbs) a Ring doorbell and a Ring camera one Alexa device

My VPS setups are 5 different VPSes, with Pi-hole running on 2 of them (Gravity Sync between them; the second is a backup).Tailscale is on all of my devices except my wife’s cell phone (I can’t get her to install it). I have subnet routes for Alexa, but I could not get the other devices working. I’m also not really sure if Alexa is properly subnet-routed, since everything is wireless and my computer is wired with no wireless adapter.What, if anything, would I gain or lose if I switched to NetBird?

I have been building LanGuard, an open-source network visibility tool for home networks and homelabs.

I wanted something between a basic device list and a full enterprise monitoring stack: an interface that discovers devices, keeps their history, organizes them into rooms, and makes network changes easy to understand.

Current features include:

  • Automatic LAN discovery using ARP, reverse DNS, mDNS, LLMNR, SSDP, and NetBIOS
  • Online/offline tracking, scan comparison, common port monitoring, and device history
  • Hostname, vendor, role, and identity-confidence detection
  • A visual Home Map for organizing rooms and devices
  • Discord and Telegram notifications
  • AdGuard Home integration with per-device DNS activity and blocked-query totals
  • Inventory import/export and WatchYourLAN migration
  • Docker Compose deployment and a native macOS version

LanGuard does not capture packet contents or inspect application traffic. The AdGuard integration stores aggregated domain counters rather than raw DNS responses.

One deployment detail worth mentioning: the Docker scanner uses host networking and privileged access so it can perform ARP-based LAN discovery.

Hello Daniel here,

it has been a while since my v4.0.2 post here. Development never really stopped, though, and a couple of days ago v5.3.0 finally landed. Instead of listing every version number in between, I simply want to share the progress I am most proud of.

For those who do not know reitti: it is Finnish for "route". Reitti is a self-hosted, privacy-first location tracking platform. Your device records where you go, reitti turns the raw points into visits, trips and a personal map diary. Everything stays on your infrastructure.

Highlights

  • Custom map styles: Break free from the standard look. Upload your own style files, point reitti at hosted vector JSONs, or configure raster tile templates that fit your taste.
  • Multi-device support and the workbench: Running more than one tracker? Aggregate them under a single account, stitch the timelines together and review or clean up individual points when devices disagree.
  • Trips with multiple transport modes: Real life mixes modes. That walk to the car, the drive across town, the last stretch on foot is now recognized as one trip with separate segments. Tracks are color-coded by mode, transition badges appear where you switched, icons and colors are configurable, and you can reclassify historical trips from the settings.
  • Spatial coverage: Built on Uber's H3 hexagon grid, it shows how much of an area you actually explored ("You have covered 42 % of Berlin"), overlays visited cells on your main map and gives you a time slider to watch your footprint grow over the years. Like they say: "Hexagons are bestagons". Details in the spatial coverage documentation.
  • FIT file import: Feed .fit exports from your watch or bike computer straight into your timeline, so workouts end up in your diary instead of living in yet another app.
  • Immich integration with position write-back: You now can update your photos in Immich from reitti if they lack location information.
  • Contextual diary: Annotate visits and trips with Markdown notes, moods and tags. Your history starts reading like a journal instead of a spreadsheet.

And plenty more underneath: additional community translations, Redis UNIX socket support, faster calculations, a much smaller PostgreSQL footprint when sharing the database with other apps, a revamped job status page, and countless fixes.

A word on Paikka, our own reverse geocoder

Reitti uses paikka (Finnish for "place") to name the places you visit. Since March it has handled close to 400,000 queries on my instance at an average of just under 40 ms, more than 13,000 of them on its busiest day, with zero recorded errors. reitti uses the free official instance by default, or you can self-host paikka. One of the gallery screenshots shows an estimate with all location it has resolved so far on a 50 km grid.

From MIT to AGPL-3.0

With growing interest from users, I moved reitti to the AGPL-3.0. My reasoning is simple: everyone keeps using and improving reitti freely, but the deal has to go both ways. If somebody builds on this work, their changes flow back under the same terms. That protects contributors against closed forks and keeps the project genuinely community-owned. There is no CLA either, so copyright stays entirely with whoever wrote the code.

Getting started

Every GitHub release ships with an attached docker-compose.yml. Head over to the documentation to set things up. Note: coming from pre-5.0 requires a database migration, please read the upgrade guide first.
