Identified - Beginning around 16:00 UTC, our Engineering team identified an uptick in event errors for Droplets that utilize a Reserved IP in multiple regions. A subset of users are experiencing errors in processing events, especially "power on", via both API and the Cloud Control Panel.

Our team has identified the root cause of the issue and a fix is currently in progress.

We will provide another update once the fix is confirmed.

Panamá Oeste es la región con mayor número de muertes por influenza

El ultimo informe del Departamento de Epidemiología del Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) muestra que hasta el 20 de junio, se han reportado un total de 48 defunciones relacionadas con la influenza, con un incremento de 6 fallecimientos en la última semana.

Panamá Oeste lidera las estadísticas con 11 defunciones, seguido de cerca por Chiriquí, con 9, y Panamá metro con 6. Otras regiones también han sido afectadas, como Coclé, con 5 defunciones, y el resto de las regiones con números menores, incluyendo Bocas del Toro, Los Santos, San Miguelito, y Veraguas, entre otras.

Entre las víctimas, se cuenta con 10 menores de edad, incluyendo un bebé de apenas 10 meses en Bocas del Toro, además de 38 adultos mayores de 65 años.

El informe detalla que el 96% de las defunciones ocurrieron en personas que no estaban vacunadas contra la influenza y presentaban factores de riesgo como problemas metabólicos, cardiovasculares, y enfermedades respiratorias.

Además, 122 personas continúan hospitalizadas debido a la enfermedad respiratoria, de las cuales 18 están en unidades de cuidados intensivos. Los hospitales con más hospitalizados son el Complejo Hospitalario Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid, el Hospital Regional Nicolás A. Solano, y Ciudad de la Salud, entre otros, donde se está brindando atención especializada.

Ante esta situación, el Minsa hace un llamado urgente a la población para que participe en la jornada de vacunación contra la influenza, que se está llevando a cabo en diversos centros hospitalarios y espacios públicos del país. Esta iniciativa busca prevenir nuevos casos y reducir la gravedad de la enfermedad entre los grupos más vulnerables.

Un excónsul amigo de Quique Martinelli dirigirá la Anati

La Autoridad Nacional de Administración de Tierras (Anati), que fue centro de varios escándalos de titulación durante el gobierno de Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal (2009-2014), será dirigida por un abogado que se desempeñó como diplomático durante ese quinquenio y que además tiene una estrecha relación con Luis Enrique “Quique” Martinelli Linares.

Se trata de Andrés Fernando Pagés Chanis, quien fue designado este lunes 17 de junio como administrador de la Anati por el presidente electo José Raúl Mulino. Rosario Cárdenas será la subadministradora. Los nombramientos todavía debes ser ratificado por la Asamblea Nacional.

En el comunicado que divulgó la oficina de Mulino se informó que Pagés se ha desempeñado como asistente de defensor de oficio en el Órgano Judicial, abogado en la firma Kosmas & Kosmas y socio en el bufete Borrell Cano Pagés. También se anotó que “laboró en la Secretaría de Estado de Telecomunicaciones y para la Sociedad de la Información del Ministerio de Industrias, Turismo y Comercio de Madrid”, España.

Lo que no se dijo es que fue cónsul de Panamá en Dubai, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, en la administración de Martinelli. Incluso, le acompaño en un viaje oficial que este realizó en el año 2010. En la comitiva, además, estaban el entonces vicepresidente de la República, Juan Carlos Varela, y Riccardo Francolini, presidente de la junta directiva de la Caja de Ahorros en aquella época.

Hay otro socio de Borrell Cano Pages que se sumará al gobierno de Mulino. Se trata del abogado Juan Francisco Borrell, que fue designado viceministro de Gobierno. Como Pages, Borrell también trabajó en Kosmas & Kosmas, la firma de Jorge Kosmas, embajador y cónsul de Panamá en Japón entre 2009-2014.

Varios escándalos en la Anati (Juan Hombrón, el relleno del florista…) dejaron al descubierto el lucrativo negocio de la titulación casi gratuita de tierras en la administración Martinelli, a favor de allegados al poder, incluyendo ministros.

Para eso fue fundamental la aprobación de la Ley 80 del 31 de diciembre de 2009, que reconoce derechos posesorios de tierras nacionales y regula la titulación de las zonas costeras y el territorio insular, a favor de cualquier persona que demuestre haber ejercido el dominio material “con ánimo de dueño”, por cinco años o más.

503 errors in SGP1 region

Resolved - From 17:02 - 18:44 UTC, the Spaces API experienced availability dips. These dips caused Spaces bucket operations in SGP1 for a subset of users to experience latency or 503 errors.

The fix implemented by our Engineering team has been monitored and availability for the Spaces API is stable. Users should be able to interact with their Spaces buckets successfully.

Update - Our Engineering team has been able to partially mitigate impact from this incident. Creating, resizing, forking, and updates to trusted sources of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and Kafka clusters, in all regions, is now working as expected. Operations previously attempted on clusters, such as firewall rule attempts, will need to be resubmitted or have a relevant event (i.e. k8s node changes, tag events, etc.) occur from now on. Users should start to see recovery and be able to initiate new operations normally.

Operations for Mongo clusters remain affected at this time.

Users may experience errors with creating, resizing, or updating trusted sources for PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and Kafka clusters, in all regions, as well as Mongo clusters in NYC regions.

Due to updates to trusted sources being impacted, connections to Database clusters from newly added trusted sources will fail. This includes new Managed Kubernetes nodes, Droplets, and Apps using Databases.

El día que Jaime Trujillo pidió clemencia para Luis Enrique Martinelli

Jaime Trujillo Castillo, quien asumirá como director del Servicio de Protección Institucional (SPI) a partir del próximo 1 de julio, redactó una carta dirigida al juez Raymond Dearie de la Corte del Distrito Este de Nueva York, solicitando clemencia para Luis Enrique Martinelli Linares.

La carta, fechada el 30 de enero de 2022, fue entregada a la Corte el 29 de abril de 2022, tres semanas antes de que se llevara a cabo la audiencia en la que el juez Dearie condenó a Luis Enrique y su hermano Ricardo Alberto Martinelli Linares a 36 meses de prisión. Ambos admitieron conspirar para lavar al menos $28 millones en sobornos recibidos de la constructora Odebrecht, utilizando el sistema financiero estadounidense.

Trujillo se presentó ante el juez Dearie como especialista en seguridad, destacando sus 32 años como jefe de seguridad en los Súper 99, propiedad de la familia del expresidente Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal (2009-2014), donde Luis Enrique había sido presidente y gerente general de la cadena de supermercados.

Sin embargo, su larga trayectoria laboral en la empresa de la familia Martinelli no fue mencionada en el comunicado que la oficina del presidente electo José Raúl Mulino divulgó, con motivo de su designación. Sí se menciona su desempeño en otros cargos.

En su carta, Trujillo elogió a Luis Enrique como una persona excepcionalmente buena, amable, honesta y trabajadora, expresando su “gratitud” por haber tenido el placer de conocerlo y trabajar junto a él. Afirmó que lo consideraba no solo como un excelente jefe, sino también como un ser humano admirable.

La carta de Trujillo fue una de las 18 enviadas por los abogados de Luis Enrique al juez antes de la lectura de la sentencia. También se incluyeron notas de familiares directos (madre, esposa, hermana, tíos), amigos de la infancia y de estudios, así como del capellán de la cárcel de Brooklyn. Un ejercicio similar fue realizado por los abogados de su hermano Ricardo.

Además, Trujillo estuvo cerca de Martinelli durante los cinco años de su presidencia, primero como secretario del Consejo de Seguridad Nacional (CSN) y luego como director del SPI.

En otro contexto, cuando la Fiscalía Superior Especializada contra la Delincuencia Organizada investigó el paradero de equipos utilizados para interceptar comunicaciones de unas 150 personas (políticos, empresarios, periodistas, diplomáticos, sindicalistas) entre 2012 y 2014, dos agentes del CSN declararon haber transportado un “anaquel negro” de metal desde una villa en Ancón, propiedad del Consejo, hasta las oficinas administrativas del Súper 99 en Monte Oscuro.

Estos agentes, llamados Júbilo Graell y Javier Quirós, testificaron bajo juramento que llevaron el anaquel en un vehículo oficial Toyota Hi Lux blanco, acompañados por Ronny Rodríguez, alias Didier (imputado en el caso pinchazos, pero nunca enjuiciado debido a su paradero desconocido). Graell y Quirós afirmaron que Didier llamó a Jaime Trujillo antes de la mudanza. Después de la llamada, Didier se unió al grupo y dirigieron el vehículo hacia vía España, llegando finalmente a las oficinas de Importadora Ricamar, operadora de los Súper 99.

Esta fue la última vez que Graell y Quirós vieron el anaquel.

Después de que concluyó el gobierno de Martinelli, Trujillo desapareció de la escena hasta el 28 de junio de 2017, cuando la Fiscalía Segunda Anticorrupción ordenó la detención provisional de un grupo de personas por presunto tráfico de armas, incluido Trujillo.

El caso se inició cuando Eric Estrada, entonces director del SPI, presentó una denuncia el 28 de julio de 2014, al encontrar siete armas Glock en el área de armamento de la entidad, a pesar de que pertenecían a ciudadanos particulares. Posteriormente, se descubrió que seis de esas siete armas eran parte de un lote de 406 Glock importadas exclusivamente por la empresa Armas y Municiones Nacionales, S.A. (Armunal), mientras estaba vigente una veda en la importación de armas. Las armas estaban destinadas a ciertos funcionarios. Finalmente, solo se vendieron 250, y el SPI adquirió las restantes.

“Por instrucciones del señor Jaime Trujillo, exdirector del SPI, fue el enlace en Panamá para recibir las armas, pues en el conocimiento del embarque, la responsabilidad de éstas en Panamá estuvo a cargo del prenombrado”, señaló la denuncia presentada por Estrada.

Trujillo fue investigado por delitos contra la administración pública (corrupción y peculado) y contra la seguridad colectiva.

En enero de 2019, la Corte Suprema de Justicia (CSJ) sustituyó la medida cautelar de detención preventiva por la de impedimento de salida del país y notificación cada 15 días.

Trujillo y los demás investigados fueron absueltos primero por el Juzgado Primero Liquidador de Causas Penales y luego por el Tribunal Superior de Liquidación de Causas Penales.

El 24 de agosto de 2023, la Sala Penal de la CSJ, con ponencia de la magistrada Maribel Cornejo, rechazó un recurso de casación presentado por la fiscalía, dando por cerrado el caso.
