New site has a header that I cant remove or edit?

What the website looks like to visitors

The white header in the photo above does not appear in my editor. Its a sticky header, which is what I want the black one to be, but I cannot set the black header to sticky either. The photo below is what I see in the editor. I cannot select where it says home, it doesn't recognize it as a block, double clicking doesn't do anything either. This site editor has given me quite the headache, any help is greatly appreciated.

Stuck on Elementor Loading Editor Screen

I've been stuck on the loading editor for my home page all day..I can edit & add new pages just fine, and the editor loads quickly, but never does for the home page.

I've tried:

  • Clearing browser & WP cache
  • Logging In/Out
  • Enabling Safe mode
  • Uninstalling plugins & reinstalling (testing between each step)
  • Enabled/Disabled Switch Editor Loader Method

Any further advice would be much appreciated.

website mess with WP

I recently have been tasked with revamping my job's website, it was created with WP. But it seems that most plug-ins are old, slow, no longer working the way they should be & are unable to be updated, it seems we have to pay for the latest versions of each thing "WPBakery, Theme, Slider Revolution, etc" which I really don't want to do. Is there any recommendations on how to work this? It seems super complicated to me but I am try to to find a way to get this done without messing up the website or cause any errors. Does anyone have any experience and/or recommendations on where to begin?

I have a WPengine login, if that means anything. I am unsure if that helps.

I have experience with square space, but WP seems like a completely different ball game. Please help!

Wordfence 2FA broken?

Tried to login to my WordPress Site and after entering my credentials, I got the error: "CODE REQUIRED: Please provide your 2FA code when prompted." But I never got prompted. That would be normally the next step... Anyone else has this problem?

How do you guys track plugin license expirations before they break client sites?

I’ve seen it happen too many times: a client is in the middle of a big launch, and suddenly a critical plugin (like a form builder or checkout add-on) stops working because the license expired. It’s a nightmare for the client and a huge churn risk for the agency.

I’ve been working on a more proactive way to handle this using MainWP and a few internal processes, and I wanted to share what’s working for us to avoid those midnight emergency calls:

  • The 30-Day Rule: We now set alerts to trigger 30 days before any key expires. Most plugins give you a grace period, but some just stop dead. 30 days gives us time to bill the client or update the card on file.
  • The Onboarding Audit: Every new site gets a full license scan. We document who owns the license (us or the client) and when it expires. We don't trust the client's 'it's all set up' word anymore.
  • Centralized Logging: We use the MainWP Pro Reports to show clients that we are actually keeping their software valid. It turns 'hidden' work into visible value.
  • Mission Critical Tags: We tag plugins that would 'break the site' versus those that are just 'nice to have.' If a SEO plugin expires, it sucks. If the payment gateway expires, it’s a fire. We prioritize accordingly.

How are you guys handling this at scale? Do you keep all licenses under your agency account, or do you make the clients buy their own? I’ve found that owning the licenses myself makes the 'maintenance' package an easier sell, but it adds more admin overhead.

I dont know what theme and plugins to use honestly.. more below

[I'm a newbie in wordpress so.. i'm a comic artist, writer, designer. i use toocheke plugin for comic organizing and my memberships plugin. i also have yoast duplicate plugin.

i'm not sure of other plugins i should choose though.. any recommendations?]

\

soon, i plan to have another site for ecommerce mainly.

i'm trying to find a lightweight theme and plugin for it.

So I tried blocksy theme and blocksy plugin and stackable, went to kadence theme and kadence blocks. but i read somewhere that blocksy theme and plugin has some issues for other users that when u update them, it goes weird?

and kadence was said to have some issues or vulnerability.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/comments/1gjr5qp/comment/lvfqd7j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

sorry i cant find blocksy's issues but i remember reading this blog where when users update the theme and plugin, it goes haywire.

any recommendations so far?

(Is it ok to just use a theme and then no plugins,, like the kadenceblocks or stackable? i'm hearing about gutenberg though, is that the default wordpress "blocks" editing thingy?)

Some WC widgets are missing in the elementor editor

Hey everyone,

I’m editing an old website that was built with WordPress, Elementor, WooCommerce, LearnDash and the Pojo theme. I switched the theme to Hello Elementor and started updating parts of the site.

For some reason, some Elementor WooCommerce widgets are not showing up in the editor, specifically:

  • Cart
  • Checkout
  • My Account

Things I already tried:

  • Disabled all plugins except Elementor, Elementor Pro and WooCommerce
  • Deleted and reinstalled Elementor and Elementor Pro
  • Regenerated CSS & Data
  • Cleared cache
  • Confirmed Elementor Pro license is active

None of this helped - the widgets simply don’t appear in the Elementor panel at all.

Has anyone run into this before or knows what could cause it? Any ideas would be appreciated 🙏

anyone here has a tutorial on how commonly are wordpress website and e-commerce created and programmed?

i mean im learning how to use wordpress but there are thousands ways to create a wordpress website/e-commerce, im practicing php and i already know javascript, i would like to see a full creation process of a website using wordpress with gutemberg, what to do if I want to hardcode something, security, seo etc etc...

I'm trying to become a wordpress developer, so i will avoid the uses of plugins during the creation of a website

i know that i could find millions of videos about these procesess but which of these videos are the correct or the currently method to create it? for example i choose gutemberg because i know right now gutemberg is the most used, elementor has sometimes performance and positioning issues if you want to do SEO, for me seo is important

thanks in advance

Caching pages through a service worker

I'm making a site meant to be used as a PWA and added a service worker to it for offline functionality. I can cache scripts and stylesheets with this method but not the functions.php file (I'm not even sure if doing such a thing is good practice so tips on that are welcome too). I don't even know where to start caching the pages themselves since they are not individual files. I'm confused with how little information I can find on this since the ability to turn a WP site into an app seems to be fully supported. I'm trying to use as few plugins as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Legal Services Management

I built a WordPress plugin for law firms to manage cases and clients

Many small law firms use WordPress for their website but still rely on spreadsheets or separate tools to manage cases and client information.

So I built a plugin called Legal Services Management that lets law firms manage:

• Clients
• Legal cases
• Appointments
• Legal services

All directly inside the WordPress dashboard.

It’s especially useful for solo lawyers or small firms that want something simple without paying for expensive legal software.

I’d love feedback from anyone building websites for law firms or working in legal tech.

The complianz scan seems to over ride settings & info, for cookies that have info manually entered.

I have a simple blog style WP website. It has only 4 pages:

  1. The home page on which posts appear (of which there are 5 so far)

  2. Contact page

  3. Cookie policy

  4. Privacy policy

The site uses Attractive Blog as the theme. The site has no advertising, no facebook nor google content. The site has no users other than me. The site uses ninja forms for the contact form. Fluent SMTP uses Brevo as the mail sender to send contact form submissions to my mailbox. Brevo only acts as a mail sender and provides no other functionality (such as add contacts, marketing). There's no option for user's to sign up to a subscription of any kind. The contact form uses cloudflare turnstile for anti spam. There's no shop nor other content on there attempting to sell anything. The other plug ins used are:

AIOSEO

Duplicator

Minimal Coming Soon & Maintenance Mode

Updraft plus

All products used on the site are the free versions. I am on the latest versions of all.

I've been attempting to use Complianz generate the cookie consent banner and also the cookie policy. The Complianz scas finds numerous cookies, many of which it auto-populates info by syncing with cookiedatabase.org. For the following though, I have enter info into Complianz manually:

cf_clearance

cmplz_task_filter

ff_entries_date_filter

wp-settings-time-4

Each of those entries has 2 checkboxes:

  1. Sync cookie with cookiedatabse.org

  2. Show cookie on Cookie Policy

Even when I disable "Sync cookie with cookiedatabse.org", each Complianz scan seems to:

a) re-force that setting

b) remove the info I manually entered for each of those cookies, and sets each of these cookie listings to the default setting info Complianz had for them.

On the Complianz wizard under "Consent", is a tab called cookiedatabase.org. Under cookiedatabase.org is a button labelled, "Connect with Cookiedatabase.org". That button seems persistently On and greyed out, with no way to switch it off. I don't know if that is relevant or not, but I suspect it is.

How do I stop Complianz over-writing the info that I manually enter for those cookies?

SCAM from verified Wordpress email address

Posting this for awareness and to see if anyone else has gotten a similar email.

I received an email from an "Ismael Conrado" from line a wordpress email; to line an email that is not my own and seems extremely spam-like (random letters that could resemble a name followed by random numbers and a likely illegitimate email address.

This email was "confirming a successful purchase" and activating a computer security service for 3 years, 10 devices at $478.99.

The payment method as you'll see in the screenshot was via a "BANK XXX0". NOTE: there was no link attached to this scam only a number to call to "discuss your order, request changes or process a refund," (I did call out of curiosity and was promptly hung up on since it was clear I wasn't going to give up any information).

I have worked in IT and feel comfortable identifying scams so this was no big stressor for me but I could see a $478.99 charge being extremely worrisome to someone less aware. As a result I wanted to flag this as something to be aware of for email scamming attacks!

I just built a free WordPress plugin that automatically generates image ALT text using AI

Hey, I just built a free WordPress plugin that automatically generates image ALT text using AI.

It helps improve accessibility and image SEO.

I’m looking for a few people willing to test it and give feedback.

Happy to add features you need.

How do you guys handle the 'expired plugin key' nightmare for clients?

I’ve seen it happen too many times: a client is in the middle of a launch, and a core plugin (like WooCommerce or an events manager) just stops working because the license key expired.

It makes the agency look unprofessional and can lead to immediate churn. As we scale, this becomes a huge risk. Here is how I have been handling it lately to keep things under control:

  • Centralized Dashboard: I use MainWP to see all my sites in one place. I make it a habit to check the 'Plugins' view once a week specifically looking for update or license warnings.
  • Renewal Calendar: I stopped relying on email notifications. I have a dedicated calendar where I log every renewal date for critical plugins. I set a 30-day reminder for each.
  • Standardized Purchases: We use one master agency email for all plugin purchases. Searching through 5 different Gmail accounts for a license key during an emergency is a recipe for disaster.
  • Quarterly Audits: Every 3 months, we do a quick sweep to see which licenses are actually being used. This saves us money and ensures we aren't missing anything critical.
  • Reporting: We include license status in our client reports. It shows the client we are proactively keeping their site alive, which justifies our maintenance fees.

How are you all keeping track of your keys as you grow past 50+ sites? Do you keep it all in a spreadsheet or is there a better way to automate the tracking?

Update on the uni journal/blog website

hey guys I posted a few days ago about this, I was kinda freaked out. thanks for all the advices I recieved! I managed to fix a lot of things in the website and our old theme was apparently expired so switching the theme and using block helped me a lot. now I have one last problem, the theme doesn’t display author names, and internet solutions I tried (like going to appearence and stuff) didn’t work and other options were about codes and I don’t know how to do it. the websites theme is “timestream” I would be super glad if someone could explain it to me like I’m a 5 year old how to display all authors. (I can’t manually do it because there are 600+ articles rn) thanks again 🙏🙏🙏

Worth switching away from Porto theme early on?

Built two sites recently for my own business, one on flatsome theme, the other on porto. Both on the same server. The porto site is slow despite having no products loaded yet etc but the flatsome theme site is much faster. This made me go down the rabbit hole googling and seeing so many options and alternatives. I'm not very tech oriented so bricks/building my own is not an option (not sure I even understand fully what bricks is).

I've since seen flatsome suggested as reasonable, and also Astra and shoptimizer.

For reference we have around 5,000 products. We want medium to long term viability but are happy to change in years to come should we need increased performance etc.

It's hard for me to fully understand this and grasp everything, but essentially as we in the process of changing websites anyways (we previously used shopify), is it worth changing the porto theme site to something else before we put lots of effort in customising things? And if so what's the best option for someone who's happy to put in time and effort changing and customising things, but does need some vague templates and options that make things easier for me?

Wordpress vs Custom Code with AI

Over the years I've delivered quite a few WordPress-based projects, and many many custom-coded ones (primarly with Nest, Next, TS, etc...).

Back then, the choice often felt obvious - for a smaller hit, standard e-commerce, WordPress was fast to set up, point-and-click friendly, and because it is open source, it can be extended almost endlessly. For many web projects it seemed like the most pragmatic option.

But something interesting has changed recently.

With the rise of AI-assisted coding, the dynamic has almost flipped.

Today, our fully custom code projects are often faster, simpler and more transparent to build. When the architecture is clean and purpose-built, development flows much more naturally. The code does exactly what the product needs, nothing more.

Meanwhile, WordPress projects increasingly feel heavier.

Yes, the initial setup is still quick. But over time the trade-offs become more visible. Because WordPress is a very general framework designed to fit thousands of use cases, it brings along many limitations and hidden layers. When something breaks, debugging can become surprisingly complex. Fixing a bug inside a chain of plugins and themes is rarely as straightforward as fixing your own code.

Custom code is lighter, easier to reason about, and for one specific purpose.

And with today’s AI-assisted development tools, writing and maintaining that code is no longer the slow path it once was.

Honestly, we am 100% sure our next web project will be built with custom code for sure, even if it is simple enough to be treated by WP.

What are your thoughts?

What is your AI workflow e.g. with Elementor?
