Viwoods wants you to embrace artificial intelligence with its AiPaper e-reader — but I think it's actually banking on the wrong features.

The e-book reader market is growing, with plenty of companies offering their own takes on the genre.

Some, like most of Boox's lineup, offer an option that lies somewhere between a Kindle and an iPad. Others, like Durobo's Krono, want you to focus on portability over all else.

If you want to use chroma key effect in a streaming or video conference app, but you can't get a physical green screen background in place, you can fake it. All by using Background Replacement in macOS.

Whether it is streaming gameplay to Twitch or improving your Zoom calls, sometimes you want to replace the background with something else. It's unprofessional to have a background that includes piles of dirty clothes, random dinner plates, and other unsightly items.

When it comes to using tools like Zoom or FaceTime, you can get around that by blurring the background, or even replace the background with a picture.

At $1,449.99, six hard drive bays in the uGreen NASync DXP6800 Ultra, coupled with dual 10GbE and Thunderbolt are the real draw, not its AI billing.

A NAS lives or dies on two things. One is how much it can contain, the other is how fast you can move it.

uGreen's DXP6800 Ultra bets hard on the second. It piles on connectivity that pricier rivals often charge extra for.

Rumors have shown that Apple is working on various smart home accessories, and it seems that a doorbell, thermostat, and more will be developed with LG as a partner.

An unannounced Apple Home event is expected to take place on October 13 with a new Apple TV, upgraded HomePod mini, and the debut of the long-rumored Apple Home Hub. A new last-minute rumor suggests that additional home accessories could be coming soon to accompany Apple's new home initiatives.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is working with LG to introduce a smart deadbolt lock, an indoor security camera, an outdoor security camera, and a floodlight camera. These will be branded as LG in spite of Apple's involvement, similar to how Apple has co-developed iPhone accessories with other companies previously.

A teardown of the Apple Watch Series 12 reveals two repair-friendly changes, but the same can't be said for the Apple Watch Ultra 4 and its internals.

With the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra, Apple introduced a revamped health sensing system, better battery life, and a more powerful S11 chip. Design-wise, however, the two models are effectively the same as their predecessors, inside and out.

It's safe to say that Apple used tried-and-true designs, at the expense of potential repairability improvements.

No one will admit that iPhone and Mac pricing is going to go up again, but the rest of the industry is clear that it's inevitable sooner, rather than later.

This isn't a sales post. We can't say what we're about to say any more clearly.

If you are in the market now for any Apple device at all, or you expect to be soon, do not wait. Retail pricing will not get cheaper any time soon.

Prolific leaker Instant Digital has made a vague posting about how Apple considered a 16GB A20 Pro chip for iPhone 18 Pro. The timetable of the consideration isn't clear, given that it takes between two and three years to move an Apple Silicon chip from concept to production.

It would have been nice. Two years ago there wasn't even a burgeoning RAM crisis, but that has escalated in the last year, so it's good for Apple's bottom line to have only 12GB, versus that maybe-planned 16GB. Other than this lone guess, the rumor mill has said for two years that the A20 chip would have 12GB of RAM.

Yet more code within the iOS 27 developer beta about Apple's plans for the home have included details of how HomePod mini surround sound will work with the rest of the ecosystem.

Now prolific code sleuth pdfu has discovered further confirmation of the idea with details about Siri AI and home theater setups. Specifically, they've found that:
