If you were starting as a WordPress developer today, what would you recommend learning first?

Block Editor, Elementor, or traditional PHP-based development?

I’m a web developer tired of just installing caching plugins. How do you properly diagnose slow sites (TTFB, DB, images, JS, plugins, etc.) and which tools + learning path actually teach this from beginner to advanced?

I’ve been seeing quite a few posts recently saying that WordPress isn’t good for SEO anymore and that Next.js is a much better option.

I’m a little confused because I’ve worked with WordPress sites that rank well, especially when they’re properly optimized with good hosting, caching, clean themes, SEO plugins, schema, and solid content.

If you were building a new website today, would you choose the WordPress Block Editor (Greenshift) or Elementor?

You get best SEO and Speed for NextJS based websites and also you can host it on your VPS, Vercel or CloudFlare

My recommendation is Vercel since it auto handle several things like caching, builds and more.

Another reason for liking NextJS is that AI Coding Agents love it and can do the changes directly.

I’m not saying WordPress has zero use cases (legacy sites, pure content farms, non-technical clients who insist on it). But if you’re starting fresh and you have even basic coding ability? Choosing WordPress is just masochism at this point.

Next.js isn’t perfect either, but it’s not even close to the same tier of pain.
