Is pagespeed still relevant?

Shameful boasting and likely a silly question, but I've optimised the T out of my site with the best pagespeed scores since 2013 but looking at the AI crawlers and low human traffic I am doubtful if this was worth the effort for websites any more.

I used local AI on a GPU that worked a long period of time but the efforts seems pointless..

Scores:

Performance: 99

Accessibility: 98

Best Practices: 100

SEO: 100

Thoughts?

New business, looking at website hosting options. Complete new to web design

Hi all,

Looking for some advice. Started a new business (estate agents) and looking to create a website to allow:

Tenants to view available properties
Landlords to submit details for valuations
Link available properties from our CRM (10Ninety)

Looking to run as lean as possible at least initially with regards to costs and budgets.
Based in UK and currently no website at present. Domain has been purchased already from GoDaddy. Furthermore, the website is unlikely to require frequent changes once set up and publish, only frequent change would be live feed of properties being updated from CRM.

Going in completely blind so will be grateful for any guidance. I have created AI generated drafts with the following:

Framer: 1st year cost: Β£120, 2nd year cost: Β£120
GoDaddy AIRO: 1st year cost: Β£89.98, 2nd year cost: Β£131.88
WixAI: 1st year cost: Β£108, 2nd year cost: Β£108

I preferred the look, feel and intuitiveness of GoDaddy but seeing a lot of negative feedback and sentiment online and on reddit so wary on how best to proceed.

Also as an additional, if in future we wanted to move away from GoDaddy (or other host) what would exporting options look like?

Thanks in advance :)

Does Redis still consume significant CPU after disabling WordPress Redis Object Cache?

I'm investigating intermittent performance issues on a large WooCommerce installation running on managed hosting.

Environment:

  • 4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM
  • MariaDB 10.11
  • Redis Server 7.2
  • Redis Object Cache 3.0.0 with Predis over a Unix socket
  • Connection and read timeouts: 1 second

We experienced recurring Predis errors:

Error while reading line from the server

The plugin developer suggested testing 2.5 or 5-second timeouts.

During a hosting consultation, an experienced technician mentioned that Redis can require almost an entire CPU core under load and that the Redis server process continues running even after the WordPress cache plugin is disabled.

We've temporarily disabled Redis Object Cache, but WooCommerce still experiences occasional 10–18-second TTFB on dynamic requests.

My questions:

  1. Is it correct that the Redis daemon normally continues running after WordPress object caching is disabled?
  2. If no applications are actively using Redis, should its CPU consumption normally be negligible?
  3. Under what workloads could Redis consume close to a full CPU core?
  4. Which server-side metrics would you inspect to distinguish Redis CPU contention from PHP-FPM worker exhaustion or MariaDB bottlenecks?

We don't yet know whether Redis shares the same CPU allocation as PHP-FPM.

I'm interested in real-world operational experience rather than simply increasing server resources.

Thanks!

Any good black Friday web hosting deals out there ?

Anyone spotted any good Black Friday deals on web hosting? I'm thinking about switching providers and would love to hear what's worth checking out. Ideally, I'm looking for something reliable with decent support, not just the cheapest first-year price. If you've used a host for a while, how has you experience bee? Any recommendations or like providers you'd avoid?
