- Module of UI components for Canvas
Module of UI components for Canvas
Hi everyone. Last week I posted about a new module I made for the Canvas layout builder called Layout Components (it has a beta release now).
Today I've just published the complimentary module to it: Utility Components (also beta release).
It contains a bunch of components that are quite popular in most layout builders: β’ Cover β’ Expander β’ Heading β’ Hero β’ Icon β’ Image β’ Image card β’ Image beside text β’ Line β’ Quote β’ Text
I made them with the same philosophy; Super simple and lightweight, so that they can easily work with existing themes; independent, so that you can just copy-paste the ones you want to use into your own theme; and completely hand-made (no AI).
I've set up live demo pages to check them out: Layout Components demo and Utility Components demo
I hope they're useful π

New module: Layout Components (for Canvas, etc.)
| Hi everyone. While exploring the excellent new Canvas page builder, I realised the need for some components that provide layouts I can use in my landing pages. I build my themes from scratch, so using components from an existing theme didn't seem like a good fit. Because I couldn't find any modules that provide the components I wanted, I made one π The module includes the following components: Columns, Row, Grid, Container, Sized container, Expander, Tabs. Each one is explained on the module page. They utilise various props and slots of Canvas components, so they feel fully native to Drupal. I've made them as nicely responsive as possible, so for example, a 4-column layout becomes 2 columns on smallish screens (e.g. iPads) and 1 column on small screens (phones). I rarely use AI, and I really wanted these to be super simple and lightweight, so I coded them myself. They're almost entirely just twig (HTML) and CSS, and only 1 of the 7 layouts actually even ships any JavaScript (Tabs; and it's minimal). It turns out that single-directory components (SDCs) like these can be used in more than just Canvas; they can be used directly in the theme without a page builder (e.g. by referencing them from the traditional twig templates), and the upcoming version 4 of the Gutenberg module will has first-class support for SDCs. For now they don't work with Layout Builder, but I'm not sure how much demand there is for it any more... Oh and the each component is completely independent, so if you want to use just one, you can just copy it straight into your theme without even installing the module; that's the beauty of open source. Let me know what you think, and if you have any requests π [link] [comments] |

Update Drupal Commerce sites for an exploit observed in the wild
| This blog post details the circumstances of the recent SA, explains how to review recent orders for fraudulent activity (including SQL queries to aid in searching), and reviews operational best practices for all Drupal Commerce users. 39 contrib security advisories in one day: is weekly patching the new normal?
| Yesterday's batch (SA-CONTRIB-2026-254 to 292) included a Highly critical Commerce Core issue that's already being exploited, eight advisories for the AI module and three projects marked unsupported. Contrib advisories have more than doubled this year, and with AI speeding up both discovery and exploitation, the window between an advisory and a working exploit is basically gone. I wrote up the numbers and how I'm changing my maintenance routine because of it: https://menetray.com/en/blog/every-wednesday-drupalgeddon-and-were-getting-used-it Curious how others are handling this. Are you applying critical patches the same day? [link] [comments] |

Do you like having secure Drupal sites? Help fund xjm. | xjm
Funding for essential roles is falling, when we need it more than ever.
Here's the hard truth: Funding for Drupal core's stability and security is at its lowest since 2012,** **while our needs (especially for core security) are at an all-time high.
Some quick facts:
- Core release management funding is currently at less than half its 2013-2023 levels.
- In 2022 and 2026, respectively, two organizations that had each sponsored a Drupal core release manager for a decade ended their respective sponsorships.
- Release timelines for Drupal 11.4, 11.5, and 12.0 have all slipped well past their planned schedules. This is the first time this has happened since Drupal 8 development in 2013-2015*.*
- Before 2026, the all-time maximum of Drupal core security advisories in a single year was 15. The Drupal Security Team has issued 16 already this year⦠and there will likely be more.
- In August, September, and October 2026 alone, we issued 198 contributed project security advisories. This is more advisories than any entire year before 2026β¦ and there will absolutelybe more.

AI-generated Drupal code that passes every test is what worries me most
https://menetray.com/en/blog/green-tests-arent-enough-thats-why-my-ai-goes-through-audit
Models often fall back on D7/D8-era patterns: \Drupal::service() instead of dependency injection, |raw in Twig, render arrays without cache metadata. Most of it works, and tests don't catch it.
So my agents now run the Audit module's Drush commands on whatever they touch (complexity, duplication, Twig, security, PHPStan, PHPCS), fix what comes up and run them again. Then I do the final review. Full disclosure, I maintain the Audit module.
What are you checking beyond tests in your AI workflow?
