13 days in the WordPress.org Featured tab — the numbers, and one thing I haven't seen documented anywhere
Disclosure: it was my plugin. No link and no pitch, just the parts worth
knowing.
Installs went 30 → 200 over the thirteen days, downloads about 1,300.
The number I couldn't find anyone publishing: the share of those people who
ever actually used the plugin went from 50% before the rotation to 4.8%
during. Twenty-two times the traffic, roughly twice the users. Featured is
discovery, not intent.
And the thing I genuinely couldn't find documented: the order of the eight
plugins is redrawn every single day. Same eight for all thirteen days,
different sequence each time I looked. My two days near the top were my two
biggest days by a distance — two data points, so treat that as an observation
rather than a result.
Anyone here been through a cohort? I've got one plugin's worth of data and it
would be useful to compare.
