Hi everyone! This is my first time posting here about BookOrbit, a self-hosted library and reading platform for ebooks, PDFs, audiobooks, and comics.

The headline feature for v2.9.0 is Book Requests. https://bookorbit.app/book-requests/

Readers can request an ebook, audiobook, or comic that is missing from the library. Depending on permissions and configuration, the request can go through approval or continue automatically. BookOrbit can then:

• Search the Torznab sources or indexer plugins configured by the administrator
• Rank available releases and select one manually or automatically
• Send it to qBittorrent, Transmission, or Deluge
• Monitor the download, validate the result, and import it through the Book Dock
• You can find plugins for MAM, LG, Project Gutenberg, Librivox .(AA in works)

The workflow is fully permission-scoped for multi-user servers. If multiple people request the same book, they join the existing request instead of creating duplicates. Sources, download clients, and automation are all opt-in, and BookOrbit does not bundle or endorse any indexer sources.

For anyone unfamiliar with BookOrbit, some of its other features include:

• Three-way sync between the BookOrbit web reader, Kobo, and KOReader, including reading progress and annotations
• Sync with Hardcover, Readwise, and The StoryGraph
• Multiple libraries, 14 metadata providers, OPDS, Send-to-Kindle, OIDC/SSO, and granular multi-user permissions

v2.9.0 also adds PDF highlights and annotations in the web reader, more EPUB typography controls, SSO-only authentication, and safer automatic metadata refreshes.
