How are you navigating ADA/WCAG compliance when starter templates fail online checkers out of the box? I’ve been looking into web accessibility and the rising trend of ADA lawsuits targeting websites. It feels like a genuine concern, but when I run off-the-shelf starter themes, many of them are flagged as woefully out of compliance right out of the gate. If popular starter templates/block editors (like Blocksy, Astra/Spectra, Kadence, GP/GB, etc.) aren't shipped with baseline compliance, how are you actually navigating this?

Specifically, I'm curious about: Is the threat of litigation as widespread as it seems, or is it mostly hyperbole? What is your actual workflow for fixing a template that fails checkers? Do you rely on automated fixes, manually patch/modify the theme, or something else entirely? How are agencies and freelancers protecting themselves contractually when handing over sites to clients?

I just ran a Blocksy theme and it came back 7/100 on the top accessibility checker. I know they are an affiliate org, and I suspect the score is harsher than reality so they get more leads. Would love to hear how you guys are handling this without completely rebuilding themes from scratch.

Apologies if this is a stupid question. Was a WP theme developer back in 2011-2014 as a side hustle and, hooooo boy, things have really, really changed.
