[PROMO] I’ve been building a WooCommerce invoicing plugin and would appreciate some feedback

Hi everyone,

I'm the developer behind SemiAuto Invoicing, a WordPress plugin I've been working on for WooCommerce.

The project started from a fairly practical problem i faced while developing a client restaurant eCommerce store that did not want a high recurring cost of operation: invoicing in WooCommerce got complicated once i moved beyond generating a basic PDF - That also with incomplete legal requirements and someone to cross reference and cross check every single order so i built a custom plugin which eventually over a period of 8 months grew into a complete billing and e-invoicing solution. Realizing how, different stores needed different document types, receipt formats, invoice adjustments, depending on where they operate.

I wanted to build something that could handle more of that workflow without store owners having to piece together several different plugins and without keeping an eye out whenever a new order comes in, so automation is a huge part of the plugin even with the e-invoicing solution(which is now becoming a global mandate). The intent over here is set and forget with only simple monitoring through notifications as documents are processed by woocommerce as the single source of truth. however, as a developer myself i understand how important it is for merchants to have full control over what is happening and where even with automation so the complete order cycle is controlled via the order meta box that compliments each order's page with a complete set of document control center that displays clearly all the document types the merchants enable in the settings plus generation and regenetation or emailing the document to a customer post order changes, on an order level for every document set any store could require regardless of which industry was being served. Each document generated or transmitted via peppol also shows up on the order list page so quick actions become even easier. My restaurant client required something robust, extremely performance efficient and something that could generate documents for concurrent orders without jamming the order pipeline so i built the plugin around the same principles + legal compliance assistance on a global scale that is not just a good looking pdf but actually follows official regulations, so a merchant involved in global trade does not have to pull together twenty different plugins or worry regulations.

The plugin natively integrates with woocommerce to capture tax rates and identify how the merchant sets up their store with all of the tax rates/categories for as many countries as they operate in while also giving them complete control to manually map category whereever required(the plugin notifies the users wherever something additional is required), also enabling them to add multiple jurisdictions for the same business if it has legal entities in different countries with an adaptive and uncluttered checkout page that allows the buyers to choose how or if they want to opt-in for an e-invoice.

Some of the things it currently supports:

  • PDF invoices and customer receipts.
  • Thermal receipts for POS setups, with different paper widths.
  • Packing slips, credit notes, advance invoices and final invoices.
  • Country-specific e-invoicing profiles.
  • Server-Side Structured e-invoice generation and hybrid PDF/A-3 documents for 14 Sovereign nations. (Peppol BIS 3.0, PINT EU/AE/OM/SG/JP/ANZ/MY, FatturaPA, Facturae, KSeF, XRechnung, Factur-X (Chorus Pro Ready))
  • Customer document downloads and email attachments.
  • Connected transmission workflows through StoreCove and A-Cube with BYOK (bring your own key) model.
  • WooCommerce HPOS compatibility.

There's plugin is available in the WordPress plugin directory: https://wordpress.org/plugins/semiauto-invoicing/

I'm sharing it here because I'd genuinely like feedback from people who work with WooCommerce.

I'm particularly interested in whether the feature set makes sense, whether the setup is straightforward, and what you'd expect from an invoicing plugin that also handles international e-invoicing.

I'm the person building it, so I'm happy to answer technical questions and hear criticism. I'd rather know what needs improving than assume I've got everything right.

Thanks!
