How are you handling WCAG accessibility across hundreds of WordPress sites?
I work in healthcare marketing and we manage a lot of WordPress sites, mostly in Divi.
With the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility deadline coming up, I’m curious how other people are handling it
Right now we use WAVE, UserWay, and Divi Assistant for things like accessibility fixes and AI alt text. Our design team handles contrast issues and dev handles anything more technical.
The thing I’m trying to figure out is how to make this scalable. I’ve even heard of companies getting sued after going through WAVE and fixing everything it flagged, so obviously just getting a clean WAVE scan isn’t enough.
For those managing a lot of sites, what does your process look like? Are you automating any of the testing or using anything beyond WAVE/Axe?
We manage around 200 sites, so I’m trying to find a realistic way to continuously check them and stay on top of WCAG issues without manually auditing every site all the time.
